Hello wonderful readers! I hope you had an amazing weekend! My weekend was mostly spent indoors because its been pouring, however you gotta love ordering take out and watching TV (sorry Niners fans). I'm getting back into the routine of school and I'm already have the back-to-school blues. I really want to just lounge on some faraway beach and soak up some sun. I've never been one to enjoy the cold, but this winter in particular has me craving to go on a once in a lifetime vacation to somewhere amazing. Unfortunately, I probably won't be able to on such a vacation until after I finish law school (only a year an a half to go), but when I do it will be INCREDIBLE. I can't wait til I can start planning! Until then, I'm anxiously awaiting for spring to begin.

Target brings us another high end designer collaboration! Do you think it'll be another Missoni frenzy?

Jason Wu for Target hits stores and online February 5th. This collection is flirty, playful and a bit nautical, yet it can be worn by everyday women. One thing I'm loving about this collection is actually cute little socks paired with heels. I don't know where I'd wear them to but maybe I'll give them a try. When it comes to collaborations I do like to see things in person before buying anything because you never know how they look or feel before checking them out at the store.

First I saw this post, then this one, and after about an hour of online browsing I convinced myself I need a new black handbag. I really want to get a bag that I'll keep for years to come, but I'm not sure if I want a tote or a shoulder bag. BTW does anyone know who the first bag is by? I'm trying to avoid spending a lot on trends and instead, spend more on investment pieces.

I know that a Chanel is the ultimate investment piece, especially with its timeless look paired with the annual price increases, but I don't see myself getting one just yet (after all, I'm still just a law student). However, while I was doing some research I stumbled upon this post that is extremely helpful for anyone thinking about buying a classic Chanel bag. Isn't it funny how much research and online browsing can go into a purchase?

I don't know about you, but now that the holidays are over, I'm ready for winter to end because I'm so looking forward to warm weather. Blush pink is the perfect color that can be incorporated in your wardrobe or home to freshen up any winter look but can also carry through spring.

How did my blog get its name?

Like many other bloggers, I started a blog for a creative outlet. I had always thought about starting a blog because I have always been an avid blog reader, but for a while the idea was pushed aside. After starting law school, I was desperately looking for some creativity. I had moved from sunny Orange County to San Francisco right after college and felt completely out of my element. I traded strapless sundresses for sweaters and fun at the beach for studying at the library. After an intense first year (and a grueling summer program) I was drained and needed a creative outlet more than most people need coffee in the morning. So finally, I started a dash of GLAM.

I came up with the name because I wanted it to reflect my life at this point. I’m still in law school and still incredibly busy, but I’m always looking to add a dash of glam in some way…a dash of glam to the routine parts of my life. A dash of glam can be treating yourself to a manicure, a glass of wine at the end of the day, new art to hang in your home, a great fashion editorial, or anything that inspires you.

Anything that makes everyday living a little more glamorous.

Can you believe Christmas is this weekend? I can't wait! Its a tradition in my family that for Christmas dinner, we forgo the traditional honey-baked ham and instead have cioppino. Cioppino is an Italian seafood stew. It has a little bit of everything: fish, crab, clams, mussels, scallops, shrimps, and its delicious! We serve it with some pasta and tons of garlic bread. Its my absolute favorite and I'm always looking forward to it. I probably should learn how to make it one day to keep the tradition going when I'm older.

These are some of my favorite products for a bright face and glowing complexion. I love how a little white sheen can give your face a natural dewy look. The first one is a NARS blush in Albatross. If you apply a little to the very top of your cheek bones, then apply your regular blush the way you usually do, it really defines your cheek bones and creates a soft glow. The second product I'm sure a lot of you already use because its a tried and true favorite. Benefit's High Brow is a quick and easy way to give your eyebrows a more arched and finished look. I use this a lot in between eyebrow waxes to emphasize the brows' shape. Lastly, High Beam can be used anywhere on your face, but my personal favorite is on the inner corners of your eyes. It really gives you that refreshed bright-eyed look!

Mixed Prints: YAY or NAY?

This is tough. To me, mixed prints walk a fine line between "pulling it off" and "what were they thinking". On the runway, mixed prints look loud and overwhelming, but there are subtle ways to pull off this trend.

Some things to keep in mind when trying this out yourself is to use the same color more than once. For example, pairing a black and white polka dot blouse with a black and white striped skirt gives your outfit a polished look. Also, try mixing prints with accessories. Belts, scarves and shoes are a fun way to mix in different prints without overwhelming your entire outfit. Check out Friday Fancies link up for some great ideas.

WINTER skin tips

Winter is here and although it means holiday fun, if you're anything like me I feel like my skin needs a little extra TLC every time the seasons change. Winter weather can easily dry out your skin, especially because it is constantly adjusting from the cold air outside to the warm comfort of the indoors. If your looking to maintain your skin's natural glow and suppleness its important to "winterize" your skin.

The following tips are from Dr. Jeanine Downie, a dermatologist and regular commentator for the Today Show.

Here are a few ways to winterize your skin:

Use a humidifier in the bedroom or living room once the relative humidity inside drops below 60 percent.
Hot showers are a no-no: The cold temperatures may make a long, hot bath or shower sound like heaven, but hot water can wreak havoc on your skin. Instead take lukewarm showers, patting gently afterward with a towel and applying a moisturizer within three minutes of stepping out of the shower to lock in moisture.
Look for lotions or creams with any of the following ingredients: petrolatum, mineral oil, linoleic acid, ceramides, dimethicone or glycerin.
Keep well hydrated. This may be easier to remember during the summer months, but drinking lots of water keeps the skin moisturized and flushes the toxins out of your body.
Use lip balms and lipsticks with moisturizers.
Use sun block. Although the skin is less exposed in the winter, ultraviolet rays can be particularly intense on a clear winter day. Even when cloudy, UV rays still penetrate. If you go skiing UV exposure is even greater, so use a sunscreen that blocks both UVA and UVB radiation.
Brittle nails can be helped by using Vaseline to moisturize and a nail polish with nail proteins

After years of living in Orange County, with lovely weather all year round, my winter coat collection is pretty minimal. So the other day I went shopping, on the hunt for a black, military style wool coat. I was able to find just what I was looking for, but at every store I was distracted by all the faux fur coats that I just had to try on! So, I think I'll be needing to add one to my closet soon. I can't resist how soft they are, its like walking around in fabulous blanket all day.

Personally I love November, you can start looking forward to Christmas and Thanksgiving is actually my favorite holiday. I think that the holiday season starts once red cups come to Starbucks which, according to twitter, is November 3rd. I'm excited just thinking about the holidays!

I never really thought I'd consider wearing snake print until I saw this photo.

At first, the thought of wearing snake print seems overwhelming. For some reason, I keep picturing neon snake print pants that I've only seen in pictures from the 80's. But here it looks so effortless and wearable when paired with a simple nude top and great heels. On my recent trip to Zara, I noticed a whole rack of snake print blouses and blazers that actually I liked. And ever since then, I've been looking for a fun snake print scarf that I can wear to take everyday outfits to the next level. Hmmm, I guess I officially like snake print (when its done right) now.

OMG! Can you even imagine a shoe collection this incredible? Believe me, I can.

Khole Kardashian's shoe collection is amazing! As you can probably tell from this picture, her favorite shoes are Louboutins. I love how organized the closet is and how you can see the front and back of each shoe.

As a law student, a lot of my time is spent reading a TON of cases ranging from being insanely dry to incredibly disturbing. However, last week I read one of the most interesting cases to date,

Christian Louboutin v. YSL. As most of you may know, the court found for YSL, denying Louboutin's motion for an injunction that would prevent YSL from manufacturing shoes with red soles. I couldn't help but think, would the outcome be different if, instead of judges, fashionistas presided over the case? Would you rule in favor of Louboutin or YSL?

Baked salmon is my go-to dish because its quick and easy to make but oh so good. I'm a big fan of using my oven instead of having to watch something on the stove. This recipe is for baked salmon with a mushroom and asparagus cream sauce.

First, preheat your oven to 375F. Then, in a foiled lined baking dish, season your salmon fillets with salt, crushed black pepper, parsley, and a dash of red pepper flakes if you like a little heat. Next, bake in the oven for 18 minutes.

To make the mushroom asparagus cream sauce, heat 3/4 cup of heavy cream on medium heat in a small sauce pan. Add a handful of diced mushrooms (I like using fresh portobellos), cut asparagus spears, and a pinch of salt to the cream. Gently boil until the asparagus is cooked, then remove from heat and let the sauce thicken.

Once the salmon is done, pour the mushroom asparagus cream sauce on top

and pair with your favorite side dishes. Enjoy!

wish list: FALL ACCESSORIES

Lately, I've seen so many great accessories for fall since all the stores have transitioned from summer, so I thought I'd put together a little wish list of what I need (okay, want) this fall season.

When it comes to nail polish, I'm usually into really bright pinks (and I mean REALLY bright) but during my last manicure I wanted something a little darker and richer. I went with this OPI color "Dim Sum Plum". Its perfect for fall, bold but still incredibly feminine.
I love Michael Kors watches, but I especially love this tortoise one. Its similar to one of his rose gold watches that I already have, but just maybe I can justify getting it since I don't have any tortoise in my wardrobe.
An umbrella! I've never really needed one until I moved to San Francisco. Last year I was using this free umbrella that I got at my law school orientation until it eventually fell a part, so I think its time to invest in a new one. Do any of you watch "How I Met Your Mother"? This one totally reminds me of the yellow umbrella that "the mother" has. The shape of this American Apparel umbrella is what makes me think this is definitely a necessity for fall.
A statement necklace. I can't get over the sparkle. I'm easily attracted to shiny things.
Last but not least, my FAVORITE. I love this clutch. I saw it at Kate Spade a few weeks ago and it looks way better in person. Also, its so soft and the perfect size.

Finally framed my new Jessica Durrant print and found a place for it right on top of my dresser. Its probably my favorite thing I've bought on etsy. I think the perfect frame and matting make any picture look even more impressive.

All three frames in this picture are from Target and the dresser is from IKEA. The book is from Anthropologie, the candle holder is from West Elm, and the boxes, of course, are Tiffany.

Supercalifragilipstick (whew, say that five times fast)!

I hope everyone enjoyed the first weekend of fall. Over the weekend, I checked out kate spade's first ever lipstick collection Supercalifragilipstick and loved it. I saw these great looks on The Beauty Department and love them for Fall. The soft rust colored lip looks gorgeous when paired with winged lashes. Or if you are really bold a deep rust lip with smoked-out winged lids. Either one looks perfect for Autumn.

Design*Sponge at Home

My copy of Design*Sponge at Home arrived this week! I love the website so as soon as the book came out I had to order it. I could look at it forever. It has so many great interiors and DIY projects. Plus, it makes a such a pretty coffee table book.

This is one of my favorite rooms in the book. I love the soft pink walls and the ruffle rug (which is actually a blanket). Its so feminine and dainty, especially when dining rooms are usually formal and sometimes stuffy. The feathers are a unique alternative to flowers and give the room a touch of luxury.

These are two DIY projects that I hope to try. The first project is a set of bookends that are covered in wrapping paper. This is perfect to coordinate the bookends to your space. The second is a bit harder. Its a display of butterflies that will add a dash of color to any room.

Who could possibly forget Christian Siriano, winner of Season Four of Project Runway. I'm obsessed with his Spring 2012 collection, particularly because of the colors and silhouettes. Spring cannot come soon enough so I can incorporate them into my wardrobe. I love how his clothes are feminine, yet completely(to use his own catchphrase) FIERCE!

NAPA getaway

Hope everyone had a great weekend! I had a nice little getaway to Napa and it was so much fun. The weather was gorgeous. I visited a few wineries and think I have a new favorite, Peju. They had my favorite wine of the trip, Peju's 2009 Sauvignon Blanc.

One of my favorite things to do in Napa is to visit Sterling Vineyards because of their aerial tram that takes you to the top of the hill before you begin your tour. You can see all of the valley on your ride up. The castle looking building is Castello di Amorosa. There were so many people there taking pictures of the storybook-esque winery.

To top off the visit, a delicious meal at Bouchon. Bouchon is owned by Thomas Keller, who was named America's Best Chef in America. When filming movie Ratatouille, Pixar Studios brought on Chef Keller to help animators design the food seen in the film. How fun!

My favorite season is coming to an end. Since moving to San Francisco everyone has told me that fall is the nicest time of the year. I'm praying that they're right so I can have a few days of skirts and tanks before winter comes around.

I went to college at UC Irvine and definitely miss the everyday perfect weather. These pictures were taken in Laguna Beach by the amazing Jay Reilly. That's me in the white swimsuit (a few years back). I always look at these pics when the foggy weather gets me down.

First, I would like to say thank you to {long distance loving} for this week's feature of a dash of GLAM! What a great way to be welcomed into the blogging world! Second, thank you to everyone who took the time to vote or comment. It means a lot to know that people are reading this new blog!

I'm really looking forward to the long weekend. This Friday's Fancies theme (Labor Day Chic) fits perfectly. Here is a fun outfit to wear to a BBQ or an all day shopping expedition. I love white jeans and just because its after Labor Day does not mean you can't wear them year round. Simply update them the season's accessories and colors to take them into fall.

san francisco: FERRY BUILDING

A few days go I spent a surprisingly sunny afternoon at the Ferry Building on the Embarcadero overlooking the San Francisco Bay. Its only a short walk from my school so I find myself getting lunch there often. If you haven't been there before you definitely should plan to go soon. There's so many great places to eat and unique shops, but it can be really busy during tourist season. I love taking pictures with instagram. You can't tell from the pictures how nice it was outside, but it was incredible. I grabbed lunch with a friend at The Slanted Door, then walked off my meal by browsing the building.

Everyone should check out this great hair tutorial from The Beauty Department, a beauty blog by Lauren Conrad. This site has amazing tips and ideas for "do it yourself" hair, nails, and makeup. Many of the looks evoke effortless style and class but are simple enough to do on your own. Try this elegant one-sided braid at home.

part slightly off-center for this. on the heavier side, grab a section at your hairline. split it into three.
start it just like you would a regular french braid.
next add in a piece of hair from the top, still like a regular french braid.
now skip the part where you’d grab a new piece from the bottom + keep braiding instead.
then take another piece from the top + add it in.
continue with this pattern until you have 5-7 sections added in.
once you’re just past the ear, stop adding in new hair. just do a regular braid + tie it off with a clear elastic like Lauren’s in the top picture

Friday's Fancies

I can't believe its already Friday! The first two weeks of my second year of law school are done!

Today I'm participating in "Friday's Fancies" and linking up with the blog {long distance loving}. Friday's Fancies have a different theme each week and people create looks based on the theme. Then, people visit {long distance loving} and vote for their favorite look (my look is #54). This week's theme is what to wear as a guest to a wedding. This is perfect considering lots of people I know are getting married soon. This look is great for an outdoor wedding followed by a night of dancing. I can never resist nude pumps and I'm a sucker for sparkly cocktail dresses and anything strapless!

Since living in San Francisco means cold weather even this time of the year, I have been obsessed with finding the perfect silk blouse that I can wear by itself or under a blazer. They are so versatile! You can wear a cute neutral one in the office (or in my case in a law class) or a vibrant one to get drinks with friends. Either way you can change them up with fun accessories. The leopard Alexander McQueen clutch is to die for, but I'm on the hunt for a more budget-friendly option.
